Kings Of Leon
Kings of Leon is a rock group that has three brothers and a cousin. It is based in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, and their range from Southern rock, Indie rock, to blues styles. The group is widely popular in, and is especially famous in Europe.
Early years:
The group’s name, Kings of Leon, has been derived from Nathan, Caleb, and Jared’s father and grandfather [both are named Leon]. The brothers had spent much of their youth traveling the American South with their father, who is a traveling United Pentecostal Church preacher. Their mother also went along with them. She used to teach them when they were out of school.
As published in the Rolling Stone magazine, “While Leon preached at churches and tent revivals throughout the Deep South, the children attended and were often enlisted to bang on some drums. They were home-schooled or enrolled in small parochial schools. Except for a five-year period when they settled in Jackson, Tennessee, the Followills spent their growing period driving through the South in a purple 1988 Oldsmobile, decamping for a week or two wherever Leon was scheduled to preach.” Although rumor had it that their father, Leon, was “defrocked”, Leon himself says “I was not defrocked, I resigned.” The couple divorced in 1997, and the brothers moved to Nashville in 1998.
Holy Roller Novocaine EP
The Holy Roller Novocaine EP was the band’s first release. Some songs from this album were later released onto Youth and Young Manhood. They also included the well known B-side “Wicker Chair”. All of them were co-written by Petraglia.
Youth and Young Manhood
The members of the Kings of Leon got their start when they launched their album Youth and Young Manhood. They emerged as a relatively well-known rock band, and they toured with The Strokes and U2. Their song “Red Morning Light” was used as an introduction for video game FIFA 2004. “Holy Roller Novocaine” was also used in the movie Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, the TV show The Shield, the movie Stuck on You (2003 film).
Aha Shake Heartbreak
The band’s 2nd album ‘Aha Shake Heartbreak’ was launched in the United Kingdom in October 2004. It was also released in the United States in February 2005. The album was lauded for its mixture of garage rock and Southern swagger. “Four Kicks”, “The Bucket”, and “King of the Rodeo” were all released as singles.
Because of the Times
By March 2006, NME said that Kings of Leon were back in the studio, and were working on their third album. Drummer Nathan Followill told NME.COM: “Man, we’re sitting on a bunch of songs right now that we wish we could let the world hear!. This was released on April 2, 2007 in the UK, and in the US it was released one day later. It started at #25 on the charts in the US, and debuted at #1 in the UK. It sold approximately 70,000 copies in its first week of release.

Is it true Kings Of Leon are a manufactured boy band?
I have it from a fairly reliable source that Kings Of Leon were put together by an industry mogul, in the same way as Take That and other “boy bands.” I’m aware two of them are brothers but how did they get together with the others?

Why did Kings Of Leon pull the plug on their Reading performance being shown on BBC Three?
I was watching it and it was nothing but pitch perfect but then the camera cut back to Reggie and Edith Bowman said they couldn’t show anymore of the set as Kings Of Leon had revealed they were unhappy with some of their performances !? Anyone know more precisely what went wrong.
