Sneaky Sound System Puts the Final Puzzle Piece Into
Place
It would seem that Black Angus and MC Double D always had
confidence in their abilities and their dreams to make it big,
but it was not until they ran across Connie Mitchell, that the
final missing piece of the puzzle fell into place.
Prior to forming a musical partnership with Miss Connie, the
two had enjoyed plenty of success on their own on the club
scene. They had even released a mix CD that had enjoyed
marginal local success. In order to break into the next level,
the duo needed an awesome vocalist and they clearly knew it.
While both were quite talented in their own respective rights,
without a vocalist, it would have been difficult to forge
on.
Once the group had laid down the track for what would become
their first hit song, the trio began to work on releasing their
debut album. MC Double D and Black Angus had already laid the
ground work by establishing their own record label. All that
was left was to work on the singles that would fill the album.
The resulting album took influences from a variety of different
sources including early 1980s stylistic pieces and such groups
as The Cure, Kate Bush, Prince, Human League, New Order and The
Cars as well as Eurythmics. When you hear the album, you will
immediately notice the Funky House Music tinged bass lines that
are as thick as they are talented, guitar licks that roll so
much you wonder if they will ever stop, melodies that can only
be described as lush, and vocals that will haunt you as they
describe stories of love as well as loss.
While the two founding members of the band might have always
dreamed of success, the large degree that they have managed to
attain in such a short amount of time must certainly be
somewhat surprising. Suddenly they had become a real band with
a real debut album and real hits all over the place. After
cruising past record breaking hits with their first album, the
group is now preparing for the release of their second album,
2, which will come out in the fall.
The tunes released by Sneaky Sound System are still
irresistible in their party-like atmosphere, something that MC
Double D and Black Angus quickly became known for during the
days when they were working the club scene. With the addition
of Miss Connie, the group also now has a depth that has taken
it in a new direction, inspiring and harkening to an entirely
new group of individuals that is quickly propelling the group
to the top of the charts in not only Australia but around the
world as well.
Crossover success? International superstars? They may not be
quite there yet, but considering the attention that the group
has received in just the last year, it appears that it will not
be long before Sneaky Sound System can lay claim to those
titles as well.
