Sneaky Sound System Emerges From Popular Australian Dance
Scene
The dance scene in Australia is currently producing extremely
talented, eclectic and unique groups that are taking the world
by storm. While the dance scene is quite hot in Australia at
the current time, it is largely a derivative of cultures that
have found success overseas, before experiencing changes and
finding a home in Australia.
In the mid-1980s, raves and warehouse parties were all the rage
in England. The culture finally made its way to Australia in
1988, where it served to influence the emerging Australian
dance scene. Today, that scene is largely a mixture of techno
warehouse parties that first became popular in Detroit as well
as trance beach parties that emerged from Goa.
Over the years, the dance culture has certainly changed and
emerged. A number of groups have emerged as a result, finding
not only success in Australia but around the world as well.
Today, one of the most successful bands to emerge in the last
couple of years is Sneaky Sound System. At the current time,
Sneaky Sound System is one of the most popular groups in the
country. Their debut album has gone platinum twice over. At one
time, the group had not one but four hit singles listed in the
Top 50. Their Funky House Music tinged hit single "I Love It"
broke records when it remained on the charts for an astounding
70 weeks, more than any other group in history.
As if that were not enough, the group has garnered numerous
awards and their shows are consistently sold out. Considering
the critical acclaim and success that the group has achieved in
just two short years, one might think that the bank had a huge
recording company behind them, supporting their success. Not
so. The group is completely independent. Unlike other groups,
which are largely manufactured acts, Sneaky Sound System has
managed to display achieve tremendous success in the world of
pop, yet their background is indelibly linked to the dance
scene that has rocked the country.
In fact, it is safe to say that Sneaky Sound System is the
biggest and most successful band to emerge from the dance music
scene of Australia. Unable to find anyone to support their
efforts, the group self-released their own debut album. It
proved to be a savvy move, considering the incredible success
that one album has achieved for the group.
While one might never guess it today considering the sold out
tickets and top of the chart hits, the group originally started
as the result of a club night known as 'Sneaky Sundays.' The
special night was hosted by DJ Black Angus and Mc Double D.
They were able to quickly attract some extremely high-profile
guests, which led to even further success. Their first house
mix CD proved to be highly successful and it was not long
before the duo began to work on their own independent tracks.
After they recruited Connie Mitchell for vocals, their electro
pop style tunes became practically
irresistible.
